Access for the next contractor

Basement strip-out before interior waterproofing

The waterproofing specialist’s diagnosis and design should establish the access needed before basement finishes are removed. A perimeter repair can require a different package from a complete basement renovation. Describe the specialist’s work and the rooms you want to keep as two connected parts of the assessment.

Put wall and floor access on the same plan

Identify the wall finishes beside the proposed work, any installer-defined floor area and the retained rooms or equipment nearby. A narrow line on a drainage drawing may meet a cupboard, partition or finished room that changes the practical removal boundary.

Project choiceInterior-removal discussion
Access onlyNamed finishes and fittings obstructing the specialist’s reviewed work area
Access plus room renewalThe same access, with additional finishes explicitly chosen for replacement
Wider basement redesignA separate room layout and a broader assessed strip-out

These options do not specify a trench, depth or foundation method. Floor openings, footings and other structural questions remain with the responsible design and specialist team.

Keep the water problem with the right professional

TrueNorth’s removal enquiry does not diagnose moisture, install drainage or promise waterproofing performance. Suspect mould or contaminated materials need separate assessment before ordinary disturbance. An area looking dry does not establish that the underlying issue is resolved.

Ask the specialist to identify its intended starting condition and anything it removes itself. That avoids duplicating a demolition allowance or leaving an access task assigned to nobody.

An illustrative finished-basement comparison

One owner retains the central recreation area and only assesses the finishes obstructing the reviewed perimeter work. Another chooses to renew the entire room while the specialist project is underway. Both need the same water-management design, but the second has a separate elective interior package.

In either case, new wall finishes, floor repair and reconstruction need named contractors. Demolition completion is not completion of the waterproofing or the room renovation.

Request the defined removal portion

Tell TrueNorth what the specialist needs exposed, which rooms stay and who coordinates the next stage. Use interior demolition for finishes and discuss any defined concrete removal separately. If the future room arrangement is undecided, the basement-layout guide helps keep that choice open.

Explain your project your way

Use the short enquiry or the optional three-step planner. You can review the summary and leave uncertain details for assessment. Neither form accepts attachments.
