Should the old shed come out before the replacement is chosen?
Choose enough of the replacement plan to understand its footprint and base requirements before assuming the old base is useful. A replacement shed that looks similar may need a different arrangement. Removal and new construction approval are separate questions.

Separate the decisions
If you only want the old structure removed now, state whether the base decision is being deferred. Do not describe an old slab as suitable for the new shed without the supplier or builder’s assessment. The new layout may also change access or clearance around the structure.
What to explain next
Tell us whether replacement is definite, only being considered or not planned. Ask the replacement supplier what must be retained or removed, then use that information to define the removal scope. Confirm municipal requirements for the actual project rather than relying on the old shed’s status.
Explore deck, fence and outdoor structure removal or ask about your own project.

Put the uncertainty into words
“The old shed must go, but the new model is not selected. Please assess structure removal separately from any decision about retaining its base.”
- Is the replacement footprint known?
- Who confirms whether the old base is suitable?
- Is base removal definite or still optional?
Choose your next step
Use the short enquiry, or organise what you know in the optional three-step planner. You can leave uncertain details for assessment. The form does not accept attachments.
