Yard and structures

How should I plan fence removal when the yard contains pets?

Do not rely on a fence scheduled for removal to contain pets during the work. Arrange a separate secure place for them and tell the contractor which gates or boundaries normally keep them inside.

Separate the decisions

A temporary opening for equipment and a permanent fence removal have different consequences for the household. If a neighbour shares the boundary, coordinate the access discussion rather than assuming their yard can become part of the working area. Where a pool enclosure is involved, additional rules must be checked separately.

What to explain next

Explain the opening period and who will restore the fence or gate. Keep pets away from the work and loading routes even if another part of the yard appears quiet. The enquiry should identify the constraint without asking the crew to supervise animals.

Put the uncertainty into words

“Our dog normally uses the fenced side yard. We will arrange separate accommodation, but need to know which gate and fence section the access plan may affect.”

  • Which boundary currently contains the pets?
  • Who provides separate secure accommodation?
  • Who restores access control after removal?

Choose your next step

Use the short enquiry, or organise what you know in the optional three-step planner. You can leave uncertain details for assessment. The form does not accept attachments.
