Connected home renovations
Interior removals when two condo suites become one home
Combining suites can leave duplicate kitchens, separate entrance areas and finishes that no longer suit a shared layout. Begin with the approved design and the building’s confirmed requirements. The connection between suites is a separate professional and authorisation question, not an ordinary partition-removal assumption.

Compare a limited connection with a wider reset
| Choice | Ordinary interior question |
|---|---|
| Keep most rooms on both sides | Which fittings and finishes conflict with the reviewed connection and new circulation? |
| Remove duplicated facilities | Which kitchen or fixed storage is redundant, and who resolves its service changes? |
| Renew the connected interior | How far do floor and ceiling changes extend across the former suite boundaries? |
The appropriate parties establish the legal combination, common-element permissions and structural or shared-system work. TrueNorth’s ordinary interior enquiry does not decide those matters or promise approval.
Decide what remains useful
In an illustrative two-suite plan, one kitchen stays while the other becomes a study. Bedrooms and bathrooms remain largely unchanged. The ordinary removal discussion concerns the redundant cabinets and specified finishes, with services assigned to the relevant trades.
A broader alternative might also renew the flooring across both suites. That is a separate choice: the owner should not order room-wide removal merely because the new home needs one approved connection.
Follow finishes through the new route
Different floor assemblies can meet where the suites join. The installer and building contact need to establish the accepted replacement arrangement and removal endpoint. The condo flooring guide explains why a neighbour’s floor choice is not approval for this project.
Retained ceilings, doors and cupboards deserve the same attention. Identify which contractor repairs the exposed edges and which rooms remain outside the work.
Keep the two sides coordinated
Management and the project team review access, services and the available work areas together. Separate suite numbers should not result in conflicting instructions for the same shared boundary. The board-review guide helps explain unresolved options before authorisation.
Ask TrueNorth about the ordinary interiors, naming both suites, the retained rooms, design status and project contact. Use interior demolition without assuming structural connection work, high-rise specialist capability or legal combination services.
