Ordinary interior demolition within a theatre refurbishment
A theatre renovation can combine ordinary foyer finishes with specialised seating, stage and technical systems. Separate those packages before assessing demolition. The audience layout and the venue specialists’ decisions determine what ordinary building fit-out remains for removal.

Compare the foyer, audience room and stage boundary
| Area | Ordinary interior question | Separate specialist question |
|---|---|---|
| Foyer | Which fixed counters, partitions and finishes change? | What equipment or display assets have their own handling plan? |
| Audience circulation | What floor and wall coverings leave? | What does the approved route and seating design require? |
| Auditorium edge | Which named ordinary finishes are included? | What seating, stage, rigging or technical systems remain outside the package? |
A sloping audience floor may have structure beneath its covering. Do not describe the whole assembly as flooring to remove without professional review. This guide does not offer raked-structure demolition or specialist seating dismantling.
Start with a bounded option
In an illustrative foyer renewal, a ticket counter and selected finishes leave while the auditorium remains outside the work. The next installer specifies the exposed condition at the counter footprint.
A wider design might replace audience-area coverings after the seating specialist has established its contribution. That additional ordinary removal needs its own assessed boundary. The foyer package cannot be multiplied across the venue merely because the finishes look similar.
Assign technical systems and retained features
The venue’s specialists handle performance equipment, rigging and technical installations. Building services, structural questions and suspect materials also need their appropriate reviews. Keep decorative or significant retained fabric clearly identified rather than treating it as ordinary waste.
For non-performance rooms, the community-facility guide compares offices and meeting spaces. For a ceiling-only renewal, use the commercial ceiling guide without importing stage-system work into it.
Explain the ordinary package to TrueNorth
Request an assessment with the areas, intended changes, retained venue systems and responsible design or general-contractor contact. The commercial strip-out service is the relevant starting point. Access, closure and the programme need project review; no public-procurement qualification or reopening date is implied.
Explain your project your way
