Can a site assessment happen while a permit is pending?
An assessment conversation and permission to begin demolition are separate. You can explain your project while an application is being prepared or reviewed. Tell the contractor its actual status rather than describing an application number as an issued permit.

Separate the decisions
Permit conditions can affect the final scope, protection and sequence. If an assessment happens first, keep those unresolved items visible. Richmond Hill publishes building and demolition application information; the City should confirm the requirements for the actual property.
What to explain next
Ask what can be assessed now and what must be checked again after approval. Provide the approved documents once available. Do not schedule an irreversible removal solely around an expected approval date or assume another contractor has received all required confirmations.
Explore residential demolition or ask about your own project.

Put the uncertainty into words
“The demolition application is submitted but not issued. We would like an access assessment now and will supply approved conditions before agreeing a start.”
- Is the application being prepared, submitted or approved?
- Which conditions could change the removal scope?
- Who will supply the final approved documents?
Choose your next step
Use the short enquiry, or organise what you know in the optional three-step planner. You can leave uncertain details for assessment. The form does not accept attachments.
Keep four decisions separate
The City's approval concerns the actual application and conditions. The owner's authority concerns who can instruct the change. Building access concerns when and how the contractor can assess the premises. Professional and trade release concerns the design, materials and affected services. One does not prove the others are settled.
Use Richmond Hill's current building-permit information for the address-specific application question and identify the other responsible contacts in your enquiry.
