Concrete and debris decisions

Concrete removal before a commercial EV-charging installation

A charging project can require removal of existing concrete without making the demolition contractor responsible for the electrical installation. Start with the designer’s approved locations and routes. Identify what old concrete conflicts with them, what stays and what the civil and electrical contractors provide afterwards.

Separate the old surface from the new installation

Existing featureRemoval questionSeparate next-stage responsibility
Obsolete concrete padIs it a defined ordinary removal within the assessed scope?Design and construction of the new base
Walkway beside the proposed chargerWhich area actually conflicts with the reviewed layout?New walkway and level transitions
Retained parking edgeWhat boundary must remain?Civil layout and drainage decisions

Do not infer the removal depth or pad construction from the charger’s dimensions. Existing services, adjoining structures and the retained surface need project-specific review.

Compare a local change with a wider route alteration

In one illustrative installation, a small obsolete pad conflicts with the selected position while the pedestrian route remains outside the work. The removal enquiry can stay focused on that assessed pad.

In another, the civil plan changes a connected walkway and parking island. Those concrete areas need their own boundaries and receiving conditions. The wider package should follow the design, not grow informally when the first pad is removed.

These are planning examples, not completed charging projects. They do not establish electrical, trench-excavation, asphalt or new-foundation services from TrueNorth.

Assign the interfaces before removal

The electrical and civil teams identify their work, relevant utility information and the surface they need afterwards. Keep specialist cutting and excavation explicitly assigned rather than assumed inside an ordinary concrete-removal line. The project team also assesses customer access during the transition.

If the entire forecourt is being redesigned, use the broader commercial parking and walkway guide. A charging installation and a circulation redesign may share surfaces but have different design starting points.

Ask about the concrete contribution

Request an assessment with the property location, reviewed layout, existing concrete involved and receiving contractor. TrueNorth’s concrete-removal service is the relevant starting point. The enquiry does not promise charger commissioning, electrical capacity or approval of the proposed location.

Explain your project your way

Use the short enquiry or the optional three-step planner. You can review the summary and leave uncertain details for assessment. Neither form accepts attachments.
