Concrete and debris decisions
Concrete removal before commercial parking and walkways are redesigned
A revised entrance or pedestrian route can require several connected concrete removals. Begin with the civil design, then distinguish the walks, kerbs and islands that conflict with it from the surfaces that stay. A general request to clear the forecourt can otherwise include work the new layout does not need.

Compare local and connected removals
In an illustrative local change, the new route conflicts with one concrete island while the adjoining walk remains. The removal boundary needs assessment at the retained edges.
In a wider redesign, the entrance walk and several islands change together. The designer should identify each area and the condition needed for the next contractor. Similar-looking surfaces may have different construction or relationships to the building.
| Existing element | Question before removal |
|---|---|
| Entrance walk | How does the new route meet the retained doorway and steps? |
| Parking island | What concrete is included, and what landscaping is separately assigned? |
| Kerb beside asphalt | Where is the assessed boundary between materials? |
| Drainage feature | Who reviews and alters the drainage arrangement? |
Keep the other civil work explicit
TrueNorth’s concrete-removal service does not automatically include asphalt paving, new drainage, grading design or public-road work. Define those contributions with the responsible contractors before agreeing the demolition endpoint.
Utility information and relationships to retained structures also need review. A concrete edge beside an entrance may be more than an isolated surface. Avoid prescribing a break line or depth from an aerial image.
Assess the route during the transition
The property team must determine how customers and staff reach the building while the new route is being constructed. Retaining one walk on a drawing does not establish that it can remain available during every stage. Discuss access and loading alongside the actual removal scope.
If charging equipment drives only a limited change, use the charging-installation guide. It keeps the electrical project separate from a broader circulation redesign.
Describe the concrete portion
Ask for an assessment with the reviewed site plan, named concrete areas, retained entrance features and receiving civil contractor. State which decisions are still pending. The aim is a defined removal contribution followed by separately assigned new construction, not a promise that removing concrete solves drainage or access design.
Explain your project your way
Use the short enquiry or the optional three-step planner. You can review the summary and leave uncertain details for assessment. Neither form accepts attachments.
