Inside the home
Can another room stay usable during interior demolition?
Possibly, but an untouched room is not automatically a usable room. Access, utilities, dust controls and the household’s needs must be assessed together. Do not assume a closed door makes occupation appropriate during the work.

Separate the decisions
Trace how people would reach the room without crossing the work area. Consider whether its power, water or ventilation is shared with the removal zone and whether the household still has essential facilities. These questions can rule out a proposed arrangement before any discussion of daily convenience.
What to explain next
Explain what must remain usable and who needs it, without sharing medical details in the form. Ask the contractor and relevant professionals whether the proposed arrangement is workable. Plan an alternative if the answer depends on conditions that cannot be confirmed until assessment.
An example, not a completed job
Put the uncertainty into words
“We hope to keep the upstairs bedroom usable, but the only stairs pass the work area. Please assess whether occupation is feasible before we plan around it.”
- Can occupants reach the room independently?
- Which services are shared with the work area?
- What alternative is available if occupation is unsuitable?
Choose your next step
Use the short enquiry, or organise what you know in the optional three-step planner. You can leave uncertain details for assessment. The form does not accept attachments.
